The Power of Receiving: How Your Energy Might Influence Your Health
Jul 22, 2025
We often think of healing as something we have to do—another thing to tick off the to-do list. Take the supplements. Do the meditation. Eat the right food. Hustle, fix, optimise.
But what if healing isn’t only about doing? What if it's also about receiving?
The Energetic Cost of Always Giving
Many women are conditioned to give endlessly—to their partners, their children, their work, their community. Giving is beautiful. But when it becomes one-sided, when there’s no space to receive rest, support, or joy, it can slowly wear down our nervous system and emotional reserves.
Over time, this depletion can leave us feeling tired, anxious, disconnected, and even physically unwell. While everyone’s health journey is unique, some people notice that their energy levels, digestion, or cycles shift when they begin to examine and shift how much they allow themselves to receive.
Could Receiving Be a Missing Piece?
We’re not claiming that energetic shifts cure illness. But it’s worth considering how the body responds when we soften. When we feel safe. When we’re not in a constant state of proving or pushing.
Receiving isn’t passive—it’s powerful. It’s the decision to trust that you’re worthy of care, love, and support without needing to earn it. It’s giving your body a signal: You’re safe now.
In many holistic traditions, this idea is reflected in how feminine energy is described—open, fluid, magnetic. The nervous system, too, responds to safety and softness. While this isn’t a medical claim, it is an invitation: to explore what shifts when you stop gripping so tightly.
Creating Space for Healing
Here are a few gentle ways to start leaning into the energy of receiving:
- Notice where you over-give. Start small. Say no when it’s a true no.
- Let support in. That might be help from a friend, a compliment, or letting someone make you a cup of tea.
- Slow down. Even five minutes of stillness can shift your state.
- Ask your body what it needs. And then actually listen—without judgment.
Healing isn’t just about doing more. Sometimes it’s about doing less with more love.
